I got tired of life and I needed something new to do. Something life-changing, something productive. So I started watching American Series. Since then, my life was never the same. My routine opened up with me my computer, followed by Mozilla Firefox and going to Mininova.Org. After browsing for the torrents of the shows that I like, my BitTorrent client is the next to open up and this client downloads all my requested downloads til kingdom come. He’s reliable. And fast. So I have been able to watch many episodes of my favorite series. And I depend on Mr. BitTorrent to do the dirty work for me.

So now, after watching numerous TV shows with the help of the reliable torrent, I have pinned down some of the shows that I’m going to look out for and follow from this point on. Besides, this is exactly the period where most of the American TV shows have their new seasons, so this is the perfect time to unveil the “I promise that I will follow these shows” crap. Moving on to the main point of discussion… I now present to the very few readers of this blog my personal choices for my TV show hit-list.

Chuck Season 2 - Season 2 is due for September 29. I loved the first season of Chuck but it was cut short by the strike of the American Writers’ Guild. So we were just relegated to watching 13 episodes of Chuck. This season though, Chuck won’t be affected by a writer’s strike for now — that also goes the same for all the other series. Season 2 will offer 22 episodes, and I think Sarah and Chuck will be closer than ever — whether it may mean that they will be in a romantic relationship, I don’t really know. Of course the head guys from the CIA and the NSA (the one that they always contact in secret rooms) will issue a kill order for Chuck, and they will give the order to John Casey. Big Mike will be out of the GM job in Nerd Herd as Lester (the Indian guy) will replace him. Bryce Larkin will also be back — and will be doing hot dancing scenes with Sarah Walker. I saw this in the trailer! That’s something to watch out for. I also wonder how the love story of Morgan Grimes and Anna Wu will fare. Sarah will also meet her nemesis back in high school. New plot, new set of villains. A new and exciting season of Chuck is ahead.

Law and Order Season 19 - I just started watching this series last month and I was totally in awe of the show. Not that I’m starting to be a fan boy of Law and Order but the way the show is very good. A very good story about New York’s finest police detectives and lawyers. So enough of the fan boy praises. Season 19 will consist of 22 episodes. Awesome ones while we’re at it. I put this in my personal hit list because I strongly think that Law and Order will continue to deliver that good approach to solving crimes and winning yourself out of a trial court. The tandem of Lt. Ed Green (the detective who looks like Gilbert Arenas) and Lennie Briscoe is the best detective tandem for me and the tandem of McCoy and Serena Southerlyn are the best lawyer tandem in all the seasons of Law and Order It’s just sad that they’re not in for Season 19. And there’ll be more Law and Order to watch out for with the Season 10 of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and the Season 8 of Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Gossip Girl Season 2 - I just started watching season 2 just recently and I have no complete idea of the whole Gossip Girl Season 1, except that I see a carbon copy of the show in the series of TV5 entitled Lipgloss. This Lipgloss thing is dubbed as “exactly the same Gossip Girl Season 1″ because of the numerous parallelisms of Gossip Girl and Lipgloss according to the staunch followers of the former and the haters of the latter. Going back, I’m just about to watch Episode 2. Seems like Blair and Serena are already friends and I have no fucking idea how they became friends again because what the Episode 1 recap showed was all of their fights and their bitching against each other. Blair still not at peace with Chuck Bass though. Chuck had his chance to get back with Queen B with this eight letter, three word thing that he needed to say but dayaaaaamn! CHUCK CHOKED! Chuck also got owned by this British guy with a butt-ugly accent. But I still think Blair and Chuck will be back together before Season 2 ends. Something to watch for.

House, MD Season 5 - I love this show because of the way Dr. House goes on and gets away with the way he treats his subordinates and lets them work through their problems. House is always this: House’s nationally-renowned department typically only sees patients who have failed to receive a correct diagnosis, making the patient cases exceptionally complex and subtle. Furthermore, House resists cases that he does not find interesting.The team arrives at diagnoses using the Socratic method and differential diagnosis, with House guiding the deliberations. House often discounts the information and opinions from his underlings, pointing out that their contributions have missed various relevant factors. The patient is usually misdiagnosed over the course of the episode and treated with medications appropriate to the misdiagnoses. This usually causes further complications in the patient, but in turn helps lead House and his team to the correct diagnosis by using the new symptoms. Pretty interesting for a medical drama.

90210 Season 1 - 90210 - it’s the zip code of Beverley Hills in case you have been hiding under a rock or in a cave for the longest time or if you haven’t heard of Wikipedia yet. I just started watching the 90210 out of curiosity, just like Gossip Girl. I had really no idea whatsoever of what the real Beverley Hills 90210 drama series looked like or who acted in that past series. Although I have no idea of what the old 90210 was like, this does not really hinder or prevent me from appreciating the new 90210. So far, I have watched 2 (episodes from a maximum of 2) and I personally liked it, primarily because of the cute Annie Wilson and Erin Silver. It’s a drama that revolves around two kids who are adjusting to their new life in Beverley Hills and how will they interact with the new people and culture around them. The only thing that I don’t get is the need to get an adopted son as a character. I mean, the character could be his whole brother even if they are different completely in color, or they can get a white guy to make it more believable. But 90210’s all good.

24: Redemption - Formerly known as 24: Exile, they just recently re-named this TV movie that is scheduled to release in November of 2008. The plot revolves in Jack Bauer being in Africa, seeking himself and then there’s where the shit happens when a bunch of African dudes come up with a plan to blow Americans up with coup d’etat. 24: Redemption is not really an added season, this is a TV movie that will bridge Season 6 and Season 7. Remember that in the Season 6 finale, Jack Bauer left Audrey Raines and then headed out somewhere. Well there it is, Africa! There’s where you come in. Jack tries to find himself in Africa and there where he encounters shit. He becomes tangled up in a coup d’etat (as mentioned a few sentences ago). 24: Exile is also the inauguration day of President Cherry Jones — who will become the first woman president of the United States of America. Historical. Amazing. I’ve seen the trailer and right now, I can say that the TV-movie is very awesome. It’s going to be an interesting 24 hours.

24 Season 7 - The 7th Season of 24 will hold a lot of promises and surprises but none of the surprises so far are bigger than this fact: Tony Almeida will be going up against Jack Bauer. Even Jack was shocked to see that he’s alive! Remember that in Season 5, Tony Almeida was “supposedly” killed with a shot of some drug from an injection which he was supposed to use up as a weapon. Wow, seems like another person not named Jack Bauer knows how to escape death in the weirdest ways. Almeida is now using his exploits and his talent to work for the terrorists and they have taken control of the grid of the United States. The terrorists are on the verge of controlling the infrastructure of the USA: transportation, water supplies, electricity, telecommunications, oil and gas supplies, almost everything that could be taken control over and it’s up to Jack to stop them (as is the case as always). It’d be interesting how Jack will react to Tony once they first see each other and how will Tony react to Jack at gunpoint. I can’t wait for Jan. 2009.

Entourage Season 5 - Actually, the 5th season of Entourage just kicked off with Episode 1 so a little recap and spoiler. Season 5 of Entourage starts off with a recall of how Vinnie Chase massively failed in the movie Medellin as Pablo Escobar. Then he sets off into an unknown paradise in Mexico where he disappears. Then E and the rest of the crew try to get back Vinnie for a possible leading role in a movie with a working title called “Danger Beach”. They do get him back but he disagrees with the movie title and he recommends that the movie title will be changed. Then Drama does something at the end of the show that hinted the comeback of Aquaman from Season 3. I seriously think that they are bringing back Aquaman. Or maybe they are going with Danger Beach with the title. I actually think that Danger Beach is better than the title that Vinnie suggested. What makes this season more exciting is that I just discovered that LA Lakers stars Andrew Bynum and Trevor Ariza will be gracing Season 5 for a guest performance. LAKER PRIDE!!!

Numb3rs Season 5 - Prof Charlie Eppes and the rest of the Numb3rs gang will air a 5th season to cause massive nosebleed to its viewers — including me. But in all seriousness, Numb3rs is the only show that I’ve ever seen that is the hardest to figure out because of the mathematics that they put into every case is just unbelievable. The mathematical theories that they have pulled out for the last four seasons is just amazing. I really don’t like Mathematics that much but how they present it in real life-situations is just cool. I’ve known regression analysis for quite a time right now because we use it for economic analysis but I didn’t really was that useful outside of economic analysis of data. But alas! Numb3rs gave me a new way to use regression analysis to save the world. Definitely in my watchlist and my hitlist. I’d like to learn more how a lot more mathematical theories can help save this world from evil. I also wish that the police and military force in the country be recommended to watch this program. Definitely in my hitlist.
