Lakers Game Review: Game 2 - @ LAC

bynum!!!Second game out of 82. The Lakers blew out and annihilated their intra-town rivals Los Angeles Clippers by 38 points. The Lakers fell short… of making it a 40 point annihilation. As the field report goes, you can call this a disaster of a home-opener for the Clippers, especially for Baron Davis. Marcus Camby’s still out with an injury. Altough he would have a contribution, I don’t think that he would have mattered in this total domination by the Lakers against the Paper Clips.

The Clippers need to relocate and stop giving the Lakers additional home games. Seriously. They should stop about thinking the lease and he cost-saving procedures because winning is not cheap. They should relocate to somewhere like Anaheim or Seattle so that that Lakers would be challenged a little bit. Those wins against LA during the first few years of the post-Shaq era are flukes.

It only goes to show that the Lakers own Los Angeles.

10 Observations from Game 2 of 82:

  • Seven Lakers scored in double figures. The Clippers were just bound to lose by allowing this statistical figure to happen. Kobe led the team with a below-average score of 16 points. I don’t really remember any team losing to their opponent when seven of their players score in double figures…
  • …much more imagining the Lakers lose to the Clippers when 7 of them score in double digits. The Lakers defense was also tenacious and fierce. They were swarming the Clippers. They only allowed 79 points for the Clippers - the second this season. They only limited opponents under 80 points the last season twice.
  • The Lakers’ “Lights Out” concept is better than the lighting of the Clippers. Sure, it’s no big deal but the lighting for the Staples Center when the Lakers play is so spectacular than other arenas because the light is focused on the court.
  • The Bench Mob delivered again… and again, and again, and again, and again. 55 points in this game alone. And what? 10 points for Chris Mihm? Things are going well for the big man Mihm. The Clipper defense was obviously shit. Kobe and the starters barely even tried in this game.
  • Turning point of the game was when the bench mob unleashed a run in the second quarter while the Clippers were leading. Everybody though that the Clippers will make the Lakers earn this game but the bench surprised them! As pointed in bullet four, they have delivered again (ad infinutum).
  • Andrew Bynum was much more better in this game, scoring 12 points on 4-7 shooting. He also caromed 9 rebounds, but still that isn’t enough because he should be a 20-10 guy at his full potential. Still, there’s still a lot of time for him and less pressure to get his old form back.
  • Baron Davis — I love this guy but I kinda hated him for coming to the wrong side of Los Angeles. It didn’t really help him that the Clippers management gave away Elton Brand (PHI) and Corey Maggette (GSW) to free agency. He shoulda signed with the Lakers.
  • Some more stats: Rebounds - LAL 51, LAC 32; Second chance points - LAL 25, LAC 6. The bench points was the difference-maker of this game - LAL 55, LAC 22; 3 point field-goal percentage - LAL 10/19 (.526) LAC 5/22 (.227)
  • I’m officially a Jordan Farmar fan 2 games deep into the season. He’s been nothing short of spectacular and amazing for the Lakers. He’s got mad hops. What’s better now is he is following what the coaches have been telling him to do. He is slowly becoming the Lakers’ future PG.
  • Kobe sometimes needs to stop forcing the issue. I know he had three dimes but he had five giveaways to the Clippers. Some of those turnovers would have been better off as passes to teammates. I know the Lakers are looking so good right now but he needs to improve that.

Hero of the Game: The Laker Bench Mob.  They led the attack of the bench mob when the Clippers were leading in the second quarter. The seemingly close game turned out to be an annihilation. It all started when the bench erupted for a scoring run to end the first half. This includes Luke Walton, by the way.

Zero of the Game: The Clippers. Come on, if you’re going to get beat down, just show that you’re interested with not going down by 40 points. Well they did not go down by 40 but they almost made it.

ARIZA!!!Laker Grades for Game 2 of 82:

  • Kobe Bryant, B. Kobe need not force it this game and sometimes he forced the issue too times. The evidence? 5 turnovers. Anyway he still had 16 points and eight rebounds.
  • Pau Gasol, B. Ka-Pau was struggling in this game, only making 3 of his 10 shots but he did have 7 attempts at the line. He made all of his freethrow attempts.
  • Andrew Bynum, A. He played better in this game, obviously, making 12 points and swatting three shots. With the extension already made things can only get better.
  • Vladimir Radmanovic, B. Made two three pointers in this game. Had three rebounds and one assist. That’s only thing to be heard about Radmanovic in this game.
  • Derek Fisher, B. Fisher made some shots but he also forced some of his shots. He finished 5-11 with a couple of forced attempts. He made three three pointers from six tries.
  • Lamar Odom, A. He made up his boo-boo from last game with a good passing performance this game and actually ending up with 3 dimes. He also scored 6 points.
  • Sasha Vujacic, B. The Machine’s presence was not much felt in this game but he did have highlights of his own - including 2 beautiful behind the back passes.
  • Jordan Farmar, A+. Jordan “Amazing” Farmar was all business this game! He went 6-8 from the field with 5 dimes. and making 2 threes with a perfect clip. He also has mad hops!!!
  • Trevor Ariza, A. Ariza continued his good  play on the defensive end. His three point stroke is also really looking good right now which makes him eligible to start over Radman.
  • Chris Mihm, A. It’s not everyday we see Chris Mihm score 10 points since he was injured but hey, he really picked one of the best times to do so.
  • Josh Powell, B. The only thing that I could say about Josh Powell for this game is he scored 4 points on 1-1 shooting with 2 freethrows in garbage time. Sorry, Josh.
  • Luke Walton, B. Luke Walton only came in at the bench but he conspired with Jordan Farmar for the game’s most outstanding play and had another great assist from a great Farmar cut.

Play of the game:
