Lunatic in the Rail Transit

I always ride the LRT everyday and I have seen a lot of kinds of people inside the coaches of the trains. Public transport is a microcosm of the Pinoy society and lifestyle. I have seen fellow students across different schools in Manila who try to study before the test, workers who have their sweat dripping even though the trains are well air-conditioned. I’ve also seen lovers in the LRT interlock with each other as if they are in the comfort of their beds. I’ve seen annoying people who elbow fellow passengers in an attempt to jock for position in the jampacked train.

However, I saw something new yesterday. He boarded at Central Terminal. Here are his antics.

I don’t know what was his problem or what his agenda is, but I overheard him saying (included in the video clips) that he went to visit his wife who was shot. I don’t know how he will be able to do that; maybe his wife is still alive. He continued with his show in the LRT by focusing on GMA — he defended here, saying that GMA is the president and we should not insult her because we are insulting mothers by doing that. He’s quite a sensible guy for someone who’s deranged, though he did harass some high school girls who quickly stepped away from him.

What his real problem is, we’ll never know. It takes only one antic, one stand-up act to show how much this country reaches higher levels of shit everyday.

5 Tagalog UAAP Indie Films

movies! In a state of boredom and with no inspiration and direction to post anything sensible right now, I have decided to rip-off Pandaemonaeon because I lack originality, like when Ateneans and Lasallians take turns ripping FEU and UE apart for their lack of originality. Such examples are ‘Salikidu’ from Ateneo de Manila’s ‘Halikinu’ and UE’s ‘Go go UE’ from De La Salle’s ‘Go go La Salle’. This is going to be corny because the joke has been sold by Panda already, but please, allow me. I’m a contributor of this site! And you’re not! Ha Ha!

The indie film industry has been a hit across the country right now, or in Manila, at the least. Movie production has never been THIS easy. You just need: a set of cameras, the houses of your friends as movie sets, members of your school acting club as the movie stars, and some pirated movie-editing software from Demonoid.com and voila! You’re ready to make an indie film. You’d film about how life sucks in this damned nation, or maybe you’d film how oppressed workers rally in front of their company and then get shot by the guards, or maybe you can do a movie with 90 percent of the lines with at least 5 curse words. The possibilities are endless!

Basketball also never runs out of possibilities. We have seen it all. From hit and runs, players getting shot, players manipulating scores, protests here, protests there. College basketball has been messy and exciting at the same time, both on and off the court. Especially true in online forums. So allow us to give you more college hoops by giving you indie movies from Cinemalaya, about college hoops this time. Remember, the crew hit to see Cinemalaya and see Atong Redillas once again! We asked for his autograph.

(Okay, let’s get back to indie basketball flicks.)

Ang Boardroom

Synopsis: This is where it’s at. This where the rules are made for every sport. The League Boardroom. The movie is told from 8 altogether different perspectives. But for some of the men inside this boardroom, it is a chance to get one over the other. Deceit, lies and factions are made in this 180-minute movie. Games that are supposed to be won on the court are suddenly won in the boardroom. Teams fly to the board with protests regarding simple fucking technicalities. Meetings turn out into a verbal slugfest. It gets real messy and dirty in the end.

Tribu

Synopsis: The movie takes the viewers from the UE Red Warriors’ illustrious 14-0 sweep of the 70th season of the UAAP to their historic choke job against the DLSU Green Archers in the Finals - from the crest to the trough in one season. The story is told from the perspective of 10 young men and women from the esteemed Red Tribe, in a flick that will take us all to all of their emotions - from all their encounters with the opposing fans and how they heckled and jeered them when the Warriors were trashing everybody, to how gallantly they stood in the hands of defeat and emotion. They show what is really a tribe. They stand and fight with the Warriors.

Kubrador

Kubrador

Synopsis: The Binondo Mafia has the spotlight on them in this indie film. Their wicked ways of manipulating points off the scoreboard and threatening players to hurt them or their family if they failed to achieve such task. This movie is about the Binondo but they are not the main characters; rather they are ruthless villains whose only concern is to earn big bucks through college games and shoot people who get in their way. The movie has a DVD-bonus: A footage of how they finish off players who violate their constitution of dropping games and shaving points. Mac Baracael should have gotten to this said DVD so it did not have to end like what happened to him.

100

Synopsis: The synopsis is pretty simple: UP in it’s 100th year, in the 71st season of the UAAP. A bit of backtrack to the last season’s last loss against Adamson, a 0-14 hole which resulted to the firing of their former coach last year, focusing the story on 9-month long rebuilding program. Let’s be honest to ourselves. A lot of things change for a lot of these kids who are down and almost out, but lo and behold, they are taken into the promised land — a first win in two years. We all know UP’s in deep shit in the standings right now. But for the sake of art, the movie just focuses from the 14th loss of UP last season 70 to their 1st win of UP this season to catch the attention of the viewers that “HEY! WE’RE REBUILT! IN THE MOVIES!!!”

Boses

Synopsis: Who says the battle is only in the basketball court? Not really. It’s also in the stands. It features the Ateneans and Lasallians in a championship game, not only trying to outplay the other team but also to outcheer them. The movie will show several measures used by the cheering galleries like cheering during the timeouts, which will infuriate one of the officials of Boardroom, the Chinese Choo Tsee. She commands them to stop cheering during a timeout and damn, it gets ugly and exciting after that as she will get hounded and scorned upon by thousands in a suspense-thriller finish… of the game, well Choo Tsee will be dispatched early by the angered crowed.

So what are you fucking waiting for? Watch na!
