Putting things into perspective - this is one of that things that most people need to do, and sadly, one of the areas of life that I suck. It’s like this. I always think that during the first few weeks of the term, everything is just by the easy come easy go system. It always goes like that until something or someone smacks me in the face hard. Then I will go from there and show my a-game through the remainder of the term. It always goes on like that every term. It’s like that I’m like a car needing a kick somewhere to jumpstart. I’m accustomed to it, anyway. My mom has to do it almost everyday just to wake me up. Maybe a shout fest in the morning, a slap in the arm or in the butt or a hanger shot anywhere in my body will do the trick to wake me up. It always goes on whenever I have morning classes and I have to wake up early.
Speaking of putting things into perspective, it’s already the second week of the term, technically. The first week is done and over with. Though things have still bean easy and there has not been much work, setting myself up for the intense environment of academics has still been hard until now. Must be the side-effect of the vacation stretch. The major subjects are still in the easy part, which are the introductions to the course and some other bullshit. Some profs tend to use the first week as a dummy testing week wherein they’ll allow some bullshit from the students first and then they adjust according to the bullshit that the students have thrown. My head is still flying at the moment and it’s delving into other things - like the NBA Playoffs. It’s still tolerable since it’s the first week but I think I should have already make myself competitive and primed for academic activity. I think I can’t have an excuse once I fail another test, which I hope, does not happen.
Books are expensive nowadays. Information is valuable. Books contain information. Ergo there is this logic that books are information storage media that’s why they are expensive. My book in one major subject is 850. Another book in another major subject costs 750. Another one costs around 700. Another one costs around 550. Another one costs 800. Plus there is this workbook in Accounting which is valued at 300 pesos. And the textbook which costs around 520. I don’t want to even bother to sum it all up. I’m trying to borrow other books so that costs will be minimized. I think the better ones to buy are books in major subjects because they’re good investments. And they’re quite usable in the future. Information is expensive. The tuition fees of today’s schools just say it all. The books may come in as a second manifestation. The high tuition fee is the main evidence that both education and information are already that expensive. The funny thing about this is I still have photocopy materials aside from this one.
Condolences to the family, classmates and friends of Drew Gloria, ID104. He died just this Monday due to a series of unlucky events in the SPS Building, more allegedly from choking and asthma attack. The real reason for the loss of life is still unclear to most of the La Salle community but nevertheless, a valuable life and a fellow Lasallian was lost due to the unfortunate turn of events and, allegedly, negliegence and a series of incompetent mistakes from the clinic of DLSU, whose office is just at the ground floor of the SPS building. Let’s not dwell on that anymore. He cannot be resuscitated anymore by blaming the Clinic. For those who want to express their sympathy to the untimely and shocking death of Drew Gloria, you may visit this LiveJournal page made especially for him. You may drop your comments there or contribute articles. Just ask the blog owners how to post articles for him. Requiescat in pace.
