A summer not much worth it

Another summer vacation with so much potential and so much potential energy goes off to waste. Blah. School’s coming on again in barely one and a half weeks’ time and still, I haven’t done so much. I was not able to go to any beach that I planned going to heading into vacation. All of the plans for a beach outing were flushed down because of several problems and excuses from some parties. Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. None of the plans even made it the halfway mark, which effing sucks. I was able to go though to some resorts within our province with swimming pools plus the artificial wave features. But that was it, which is really corny. Okay, swimming pools are fine but nothing beats the experience of being in White Rock, Bora or Puerto Galera with the fine sand, the good water and the good sceneries.

But 80 percent of the time, I was found online on Yahoo Messenger, on mIRC, on this website fixing themes and customizing shit, on several NBA forums and on several torrent networks. In simple terms, I just lazed out myself on the computer, trying do online geek stuff. Not that I didn’t go out, but basically my vacation was mostly engaged in computer time. I’d wake up at 4 am to first check the emails and new messages from various forums. After maybe an hour, I try to search for new torrents of albums, movies, series and artist discographies. And then the download overlord starts. At 6 am, I leave the computer and the internet on standby mode. I leave it and I don’t care if my mother would use the other pc, just that she won’t use the PC that I’ve been downloading stuff into. I also try to snark at forums, but hell I’ve grown tired of it. But lately, my interest at snarking in forums has raised up a bit due to two boneheads that nightdreamer introduced to me in the i.Ph forums. One is full of braggadocio and the other is stupid. Oppppppps I don’t want to snark here.

It also doesn’t help that Basketball TV was cut off the air from SkyCable since January 1 of 2008 because that forced me to go online more and more, trying to look for online streaming for the NBA games that will not be shown on TV. It also doesn’t help that it’s already the playoffs and every game is important for every team so the action is exciting and every game is a must watch. My Lakers are currently locked in a tie against the Utah Jazz, with both teams scoring 2 wins in their best-of-seven series. I think Detroit has already advanced to the Conference Finals so a job well done for them. The Celtics are always homesick when they travel to the road, and they are still winless on the road, but they don’t really have to win any road games to reach the championship, on the condition that they take care of their home floor. San Antonio’s on the brink of elimination from the young and fearless Hornets.

Oh, wait, the topic about the not-so-worth-it summer is completely lost now. Getting back to it…

Despite the not-so-worth-it summer, I keep myself in shape by playing sports, especially basketball. Extra weight from too much food is the number one opponent so keeping up in shape is a top priority. I’m already a fat guy and I don’t want to add more weight to this body, or else I have to buy new pairs of jeans and new clothes that will fit me. And no, I don’t want to look like Jabba THE Hut. The pick-up games have been nice, sometimes there’s a wager involved in the games but it’s just petty cash good enough for after-game refreshments for the winning team. The games have also been a good time to re-evaluate my basketball skills and try to increase my little skills in playing basketball, and also to gain confidence with making moves. I am really shaky and iffy when I enter the court, mostly unsure of what I’m doing but the morning ballgames this summer helped me up my confidence when playing. Here’s to hoping that I will come out of the summer vacation a better ballplayer, with more confidence in every move I make.

Also, my body clock has been turned upside down this vacation, which is really weird. I’m asleep during the afternoons and awake starting from 12 am to about 12 pm. I usually sleep at about 1 or 2 pm and then wake at around the 12 to 2 am zone. I don’t know what the hell happened with my body clock, but I’m trying to fix it before the classes start on the 26th or else, I’m in deep shit. I always am trying to fight the feeling of sleepiness but I can’t help it. Being in a bed while fighting sleepiness to begin with doesn’t help the cause at all. Having a nice soft pillow around my arms just kills it all. So yeah. I’ve battled long enough to stay awake at this juncture of the day so I’ve won half of the battle.

I’ll try to sleep now so I can start to fix my body clock. And I still hope to extract something much meaningful before this summer vacation ends. LATERZ!
