Every year, people from La Salle and Ateneo students and alumni sacrifice their time, energy and effort just to secure tickets to the Philippines’ biggest sports rivalry. Some people line up 24 hours prior to the ticket-selling day, in desperate hopes that they will be also rewarded with passes to one of the most important social events in the country. I’ve seen some of them take their portable sleeping gear, bringing some food to the ticket-selling venue and spending their night in high hopes. And then they realize the morning after, their sacrifices have been all put to naught by the scalpers who are just as willing to take those tickets away from them.
Certainly, these legitimate fans deserve much better.
I mean, it seems the scalpers only have to show up and they get their ticket allocation. The real fans who have been spent have been relegated to spectators who wander how much these scalpers will sell the tickets that they have “stolen” from them. Okay, I have no right in saying that these people have no right to buy the tickets just because they are not from La Salle or Ateneo. Sure, they can watch the games and enjoy it; IT IS their right anyway because they have the necessary document. It’s just that they have no right to sell it at a higher price to us, they have completely no right to scalp the tickets.
I’ve heard several people complain about the way they lined up almost a day before the ticket-selling and how they ended up with nothing. It’s the most frustrating feeling for a fan who exerts effort - to see scalpers who just need to show up get away with the tickets. What’s worse is that the people who have the nerve to do this are people who are poor. I’ve been hearing stories that they are doing a lot of tricks to cheat other people to gaining access to tickets. Scalpers will be there but the I think that the Araneta Coliseum Management have a lot of explaining to do. This is an account that I have gathered from a user in one La Salle support site.
i thought i’ll not be posting this..
but i dont think it fits to be placed in the thread of DLSU vs ADMU game..last night on my way home, (because i just live near araneta) i saw that there was already a line for the tickets.i cant blame them if they were na, so they will sure tix. so, i decided to be early. i ws in araneta at 4am..there was no line at the red gate because there was a rope and a guard was trying to remove the people near the vicinity..so, i was waiting at the streets.. thank god, i met someone.. a lasallian too..
then, around past 5am..there was a commotion..people just line up near the red ticket booth even if the guard were saying that the ticket will be sold at 9am and the line will start at 7am pa.. then sa line, i met two more lasallians.. we didnt get out of the line..
even if someone in front,back and side of the line, really smells bad.. like the one at the back of me was drunk..he really smells..i thought he will blow up..damn..buti na lang, napunta siya sa likod pa..there was so much tulak,apak ng paa..hinila ng guard yung ibang nakpila..they cant control the people..then, the guard jsut said to make 2 lines..1 line..the 2 lines..everybody cant understand which is which.. everyone can fill being sandwich.. mad.gif
then before 9am, there were officials from araneta and some police who were present to make the line in proper..so that it can start the selling of tickets.. but because the security arrange the people on their own way, napalayo kami ng konti.. it really sucks.. ang daming tao sa unahan na asa likod talaga namin sila..
there were 10 patron and lowerbox tickets..50 upera and 579 uperb.. oh my god, s***..we got just upperb..we can’t believe it.. there were only around 15 persons in front of us who was the last one who got uppera tix.. ahhhh..it hurts so much!
whats worst, when we were about to have our time to buy the tix..we saw photocopy papers, which had ids and the letters..the one needed by araneta so they can sell tickets.. damn, there were fake ids..
fake photocopied ids of CSB..oh my god..we were so speechless when we got our 2 upperb tix..the four of us can’t believe it..
what an experience..this was my worst experience of buying tickets in araneta after so many years!
i hope that the host team which is up and the araneta officials, will be strict about the id policy..i hope its not just simple sss id..or if they have admu or dlsu id, it should be verify! better check if its fake! maybe they can distinguish students and alumni from not..
there were only 5-10% of dlsu and admu students and alumni on the line..but i don’t think that percentage got tickets!

10 Patron, 10 Lower Box, 50 Upper Box A? Is the Araneta Coliseum Management fucking serious? Where are the other tickets? We, La Salle and Ateneo fans, need a lengthy explanation from you, madams and sirs. For a coliseum that seats 14,775 at the least, this situation alone is fucking inane and insane! And how did the scalpers gain access to photocopied IDs? They should have been very strict about it. There is a way to verify the ID numbers of students in UAAP schools, even if they don’t use the high-tech scanners. There is no excuse for this petulant behavior from the scalpers and the Araneta Coliseum management. Scalpers have the right to earn money, yes, but they are crossing the line by trying to earn it at the expense of students.
The fall does not squarely fall on the scalpers’ shoulders though, as students or alumni also sell their tickets at prices that are as high as the heavens. Way to denounce corruption and then crucify the government officials for their corrupt nature with these acts of pang-gugulang and trying to get one over the neighbor or the opposing team’s fans.
We deserve much better. We need an explanation about where the fuck are the other tickets.

I think that the blame does not fall squarely into the shoulders of the scalpers and the Araneta coliseum management. Some part of the blame should be passed to the students or alumni who sell their tickets at an unimaginable rate.

Hindi po ako Atenista. What I’m driving at lang naman is they shouldn’t make their living at the expense of the students who don’t have a job yet at yung fans na gusto lang manood ng UAAP. Never did I say that we are superior than them, and I probably never will unless really, really warranted. I even pointed out that they have THE RIGHT to watch the games because they have necessary passes. However, I did say that they have absolutely NO RIGHT to cheat on students and UAAP fans who just want to enjoy the game and support their respective schools.
Social climbing? I’ll leave that up to you. Other things that you have said deviate from the driving point of this post a hundred miles away. But I’ll take your word for it though, maybe scalping is the revenge of the poor to bitch the rich.
well, are you an lasalista?!, if so, then you should know that during lasalle- ateneo games majority of the tickets are sold by those schools and not by araneta. and for your information those in line are not all scalpers but some are maids/ representatives of rich and prominent figures of our country, so don’t ever blame those scalpers if u can’t secure tickets for the game coz it’s not their fault because you’re a social climber!! if you are a lasalista/ atenista then you should get a ticket from your schools and not just depend on araneta because majority also of the tickets are reserve for prominent figures, your unlucky coz you are not a prominent one, so just get a life!!!
Don’t ever ever question my effort to get tickets. You absolutely do not know what I go through when I secure tickets. I spend hours lining up in Araneta or in school (if may good allocation) just to get the elusive tickets. Just seeing those scalpers just makes me want to cringe. Not that I don’t hinder them of any right to buy and sell them but they should be reasonable enough!!!
BTW I don’t aim for really really good seats in the patron or in the lower box because that’s where the prominent people of importance to both schools sit. The allocations that I’m trying to get always are the upper a and upper b — where everyone has a fair chance.
of course i understand!! anyway just to share with you i bought 5 ga tickets for 1500 for this coming sunday game. i think the price is not so reasonable but on the brighter side securing a ticket without falling in line in araneta is an advantage also!! yeah!! it’s unfair for real students but scalpers were not the only one selling the tickets but also faculties from different schools probably from UP. i think faculties should be the role model of students and shouldn’t make the uaap games as a business!

Guys, I know what you feel pero talagang ganyan kung saan ang pera nandoon lahat ang mga walanghiya. Mag kakasabwat lahat yan mag mula sa nag iimprenta ng ticket hanggang doon sa nagbebenta doon sa booth hahaha. nood na lang sa sports bar at masmasaya pa malayo ang mararating ng 2000 pesos super saya pa ng mga tropa kaya kung ako sa inyo I will just have a tail gate party mas masaya yun no need to pila just show up when the game start at laklakan na.. thanks
